Senior Site Manager – Major Healthcare Project
📍 Oxford
💷 Circa £350 per day
⏳ Freelance | Approx. 2-year contract | ASAP start
£350/day + around 2 years of work on a major healthcare build in Oxford. 🏗️
If you’re a hands-on Senior Site Manager who wants to be out driving the job rather than managing it from behind a desk, this is a strong long-term contract.
A current CITB Temporary Works Coordinator qualification is essential.
About the role
You’ll work alongside the Construction Manager and wider delivery team, taking ownership of day-to-day site operations across multiple subcontract packages.
The focus is simple: safe delivery, strong subcontractor control, programme, quality and solving problems before they hit the job.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily site activities and multiple subcontract packages
- Drive short-term programmes, sequencing and look-ahead planning
- Coordinate subcontractors, Site Managers, supervisors and labour
- Review RAMS, permits, ITPs and construction information
- Monitor quality against drawings, specifications and programme
- Coordinate closely with M&E, design and specialist trades
- Manage logistics, access, deliveries and trade interfaces
- Identify buildability and sequencing issues early
- Maintain high health, safety and environmental standards
- Act as Temporary Works Coordinator
- Support snagging, commissioning and handover

Requirements
- Strong Senior Site Manager / experienced Site Manager background on substantial building projects
- Current CITB Temporary Works Coordinator qualification
- SMSTS, CSCS Management card and First Aid
- Strong subcontractor and package-management experience
- Confident reading drawings and managing construction sequencing
- Experience coordinating M&E / building-services interfaces
- Practical, proactive style with the confidence to challenge subcontractors and make decisions on site

Particularly relevant experience includes:
- Hospitals / healthcare
- Laboratories
- Major fit-out
- Modular construction
- Technically complex or heavily serviced buildings
- Fire stopping, partitions, ceilings and builders’ work
- M&E penetrations and interface coordination

Strong matches may currently be working as a Senior Site Manager, Site Manager, Construction Manager or Senior Construction Manager within a main contractor or major construction environment.
Relevant backgrounds include healthcare construction, hospitals, laboratories, major commercial buildings, fit-out, life sciences and other technically complex M&E-intensive projects.
