About Linxon
Linxon is a joint venture between Hitachi Energy and SNC-Lavalin, specializing in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) delivery of electrical substations and grid infrastructure projects worldwide. At Hinkley Point C, Linxon is responsible for the delivery of critical high-voltage electrical infrastructure supporting the UK's newest nuclear power station.
Position Overview
The Construction Manager will lead all site construction activities associated with the delivery of Linxon's electrical balance-of-plant infrastructure at Hinkley Point C. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of construction works, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical installation activities.
The successful candidate will provide leadership to multidisciplinary construction teams and contractors while maintaining alignment with nuclear safety standards, project schedule commitments, quality requirements, and budget objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Leadership
- Lead all onsite construction activities.
- Drive a strong safety-first culture aligned with HPC and Linxon requirements.
- Ensure construction works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, programme, quality requirements, and approved methodologies.
- Coordinate daily site operations across multiple contractors and interfaces.
- Provide visible leadership and direction to construction supervisors and contractor management teams.
Health, Safety, Environment and Security
- Promote and uphold the highest standards of health, safety, environmental, and nuclear safety performance.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, HPC site rules, permit-to-work systems, and Linxon HSE procedures.
- Lead construction safety reviews, inspections, audits, and toolbox talks.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support achievement of Zero Harm objectives.

Project Planning and Delivery
- Develop and implement construction execution strategies.
- Monitor progress against baseline schedules and identify recovery actions where necessary.
- Coordinate resource planning, logistics, material deliveries, and site access requirements.
- Participate in schedule reviews and construction readiness assessments.
- Manage construction risks, constraints, and interface issues.
Contractor Management
- Manage principal contractors, subcontractors, and specialist installation teams.
- Monitor contractor performance against safety, quality, productivity, and schedule metrics.
- Review contractor work packs, RAMS, lift plans, and construction methodologies.
- Facilitate coordination meetings and drive resolution of construction challenges.
- Ensure adequate supervision and competency management across all work fronts.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all construction works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, and quality standards.
- Support inspection and test activities.
- Manage punch list closure and handover documentation.
- Ensure non-conformances are identified, recorded, and resolved effectively.
- Promote a right-first-time approach to construction execution.
Interface and Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with HPC delivery teams, EDF stakeholders, designers, commissioning teams, and regulatory representatives.
- Coordinate interfaces between civil, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities.
- Support project reporting and provide regular updates on construction performance.
- Represent Linxon in client and stakeholder meetings as required.
Commercial and Performance Management
- Support cost management and forecasting activities.
- Monitor productivity and resource utilization.
- Identify change opportunities and constructability improvements.
- Contribute to project KPI reporting and performance reviews.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- SMSTS Certification.
- Strong understanding of Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Membership of CIOB, ICE, IET, APM, or equivalent professional body.
- Nuclear industry qualifications and training.
- Temporary Works Coordinator certification.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience managing large-scale industrial, infrastructure, power, utility, or energy construction projects.
- Proven experience delivering HV electrical infrastructure, substations, grid connections, or EPC projects.
- Experience managing multiple contractors in a highly regulated environment.
- Demonstrated leadership in achieving high safety performance standards.
- Experience managing complex construction interfaces and stakeholder relationships.
Desirable
- Previous nuclear industry experience.
- Experience working on Hinkley Point C or major UK infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of ONR and nuclear quality requirements.
