Job Description

Location: East Midlands, Leicestershire, Leicester

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Monday - Friday

Salary: £65,000 - £72,000 per annum

We are looking for a Senior Site Manager for a quality-focused and reputable housing developer based in the East Midlands. This market-leading business is known for delivering high-specification homes alongside excellent customer service. Job Duties

  • Plan, organise and manage all on-site activities to ensure construction projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead and supervise site teams, subcontractors and suppliers, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies, promoting a strong safety culture on site.
  • Monitor progress against project plans and resolve any issues or delays promptly to maintain schedule adherence.
  • Manage site resources effectively, including labour, materials and equipment, to optimise efficiency and minimise waste.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, daily reports, and site inspections to ensure full accountability and transparency.
  • Engage with clients, consultants and other stakeholders to provide regular updates and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing best practices on site.
  • Ensure all site operations comply with relevant building regulations, planning conditions and environmental requirements.

Required Qualifications And Education

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certificate
  • Black CSCS Card indicating the highest level of site competence
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Relevant construction or site management qualification (such as NVQ Level 6 or equivalent)

Experience

  • Proven track record of working as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager within the residential construction sector.
  • Experience managing medium to large scale housing developments, preferably high-specification projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully leading site teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong background in managing budgets, programmes and resources on complex construction sites.
  • Experience liaising with clients, local authorities and regulatory bodies.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of construction methods, materials and legislation relevant to housing development.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate teams and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Proficient in the use of construction management software and digital reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documents accurately.
  • Commitment to health and safety and quality standards on site.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) membership or equivalent professional body affiliation.
  • Experience with environmental and sustainability standards in construction.
  • Additional health and safety certifications beyond SMSTS.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily based on-site in the East Midlands, with occasional travel to other locations within the region.
  • Full-time hours generally Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required to meet project demands.
  • Work involves exposure to typical construction site environments, including outdoor conditions and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Regular need to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain a professional presence on site at all times.
