Senior Site Manager – North Scotland
Location: Peterhead & Caithness
Working Arrangement: Site-based
Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Site Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of major linear civil engineering works supporting nationally important energy infrastructure across the north of Scotland.
The business is involved in some of Europe’s most significant and technically challenging energy infrastructure programmes, helping to strengthen and modernise the electricity transmission network. Their projects combine complex engineering with long-term benefits for communities and the wider energy sector.
This position will play a key role in the delivery of extensive civil engineering works associated with onshore cable route construction. From initial mobilisation through to completion and reinstatement, you will take ownership of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and in line with the required quality standards.
You will be responsible for coordinating several active work fronts, leading site teams and subcontractors, and maintaining effective relationships with clients, stakeholders and project management teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for day-to-day site delivery across significant linear civil engineering works.
- Oversee the construction of access and haul roads, cable trenches, ducts, joint bays, HDD crossings and reinstatement activities.
- Manage multiple concurrent work areas along extensive cable route corridors.
- Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and internal construction teams.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant HSE requirements, CDM regulations and project quality standards.
- Track progress against the construction programme and implement corrective or recovery measures where necessary.
- Represent the site delivery function at client, stakeholder and coordination meetings.
- Proactively identify project risks, opportunities and potential delivery constraints.
- Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and construction documentation.
- Provide strong leadership and ensure a positive culture around health, safety, quality and delivery.

About You
We are looking for an established Site Manager or Senior Site Manager with a strong background in major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
You should have:
- Proven experience delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong, demonstrable experience within linear civils is essential.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multi-disciplinary construction teams.
- A thorough understanding of HSE requirements and CDM regulations.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous, although not essential:
- Previous involvement in energy or power transmission infrastructure.
- Experience working on onshore cable route construction.
- Knowledge of civil works associated with cable installation.
- Experience with HDD, joint bays or other trenchless construction techniques.
- Understanding of interfaces between onshore construction and offshore landfall works.
Qualifications
- SMSTS
- CSCS card or equivalent
