Role Title: Senior Site Manager

Business Unit: Asset Intelligence

Location: Thames Valley Area - Site Based

Role Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Site Manager to support Galliford Try Asset Intelligence on a Thames Water Security Upgrade site. The role will provide overall site leadership and coordination across civils, physical security, electronic security systems and commissioning workstreams within a live operational water environment. The Senior Site Manager will act as the senior on-site representative for the project team, ensuring the works are delivered safely, efficiently, to specification and with minimal disruption to Thames Water operations.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the day-to-day management of all on-site operations for the assigned Thames Water security upgrade site.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary workstreams including civils, physical security, electronic security systems, electrical works, commissioning engineers, designers, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
  • Act as the primary on-site point of contact for Thames Water site teams, operational stakeholders, security stakeholders, subcontractors and internal project teams.
  • Ensure all work packages are delivered in line with the agreed programme, technical specifications, approved drawings, RAMS, permits, ITPs and project constraints.
  • Maintain a strong safety culture in line with CDM requirements, Galliford Try procedures, Thames Water site requirements and water industry safe working expectations.
  • Ensure daily briefings, toolbox talks, RAMS reviews, point-of-work checks and permit controls are completed and recorded.
  • Manage security-sensitive working arrangements, including access control, visitor controls, secure handling of drawings and control of site information relating to security assets.
  • Plan and coordinate phased works to minimise impact on live water treatment, distribution or operational processes.
  • Coordinate civils works including excavations, ducting, service avoidance, bases, perimeter works, reinstatement and interfaces with existing utilities.
  • Oversee physical security works including fencing, gates, barriers, turnstiles, secure compounds and associated foundations or fixing details.
  • Oversee electronic security system installation including CCTV, access control, intruder detection, PIDS, containment, cabling, panels and communications infrastructure.
  • Support commissioning planning, site acceptance testing, handover documentation and post-installation training where required.
  • Monitor progress, labour, plant, materials, subcontractor performance, constraints, delays, defects and emerging risks.
  • Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, progress photographs, quality evidence, as-built information, red-line records and handover documentation.
  • Support commercial control by validating progress, recording evidence, highlighting early warnings, identifying changes and reducing avoidable rework.
  • Escalate safety, operational, design, commercial or programme risks promptly to the Project Manager and Delivery Manager.

About you:

  • Strong experience in a senior site management role within construction, infrastructure, utilities, water, security or similarly controlled operational environments.
  • Confidence leading multi-discipline site teams and coordinating subcontractors, specialist suppliers, designers and commissioning teams.
  • Good understanding of CDM, SHEQ processes, RAMS, permits, temporary works, ITPs, NCRs, snagging and handover requirements.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, programmes, technical documentation and site records.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with Thames Water operational personnel and project stakeholders.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to identify risks, variations, early warnings and programme constraints.
  • Able to work in a security-sensitive environment and maintain confidentiality around site layouts, security drawings and system details.
  • SMSTS and CSCS Black Card or equivalent.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • EUSR Water Hygiene.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator or Temporary Works Supervisor awareness.
  • Experience on water treatment works, utilities, CNI, MOD or secure infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with FieldView, Viewpoint for Projects, SharePoint, Teams, Primavera P6 or similar project systems.
