About the company

A small, founder-led application monitoring platform with a highly capable engineering team. Profitable for years before a recent investment from a private equity firm, and still debt-free.

The role

This company runs its own bare-metal infrastructure, leased directly from data centre providers rather than sitting on a major public cloud, giving tighter control over performance and keeping hosting costs down. The platform has run stably for years, built largely by the current SRE, and we're now looking for a Lead SRE to work alongside him, take on more ownership, and help modernise it from here, including supporting a planned US expansion.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a hands-on technical lead role, not people management. You'll join the on-call rotation and be trusted to own infrastructure end to end.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning and evolving a bare-metal, data-centre-based infrastructure estate
  • Working with Kafka and Redis as part of the core stack
  • Driving infrastructure-as-code, deployment and provisioning improvements
  • Acting as a senior technical voice and mentor in a small, high-calibre team
  • Supporting a new US hosting region and a longer-term move towards more decomposed, containerised deployments

What we're looking for

  • Strong traditional infrastructure background: Linux, networking, DNS, bare-metal and data-centre environments
  • Solid infrastructure-as-code experience; Ansible preferred, but strong Terraform or similar is welcome if you can pick up Ansible quickly
  • Comfortable outside a purely cloud-native stack
  • Prior SRE, platform or infrastructure leadership experience
  • A team player first, technical expert second
