Title: Senior SOC Analyst

Job location: Hursley, Hampshire

Description:

This is a free training course followed by the potential for a role with one of our clients.

The Role:

Our clients are looking for a Senior SOC Analyst to join their team.

About You & The Role

As a Technical Consultant specialising in Threat Detection, Response & Intelligence, you will support and lead the monitoring, detection, and initial response to cyber security threats within a 24x7 SOC environment. Positioned as a senior presence on shift, you will bridge hands-on operational triage with team guidance, playing a central role in maintaining operational excellence, driving quality assurance, and supporting client interactions.

Key Requirements:

  • SOC Experience: Proven background in a 24x7 SOC operational environment (L2 / L3 level).
  • SIEM Proficiency: Hands-on experience with major SIEM platforms (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel, QRadar, Splunk, or Elastic).
  • Core Investigation Skills: Practical experience in alert validation, security event analysis, incident triage, and escalation workflows.
  • Tooling & Visibility: Exposure to EDR/XDR platforms, network security technologies, and identity systems to interpret logs across endpoints, networks, and cloud environments.
  • Response & Threat Knowledge: Solid grasp of incident response workflows, threat detection methodologies, and frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly articulate security incidents, risks, and updates to both technical teams and client stakeholders.
  • Leadership Traits: Experience or readiness to act as a shift lead, guiding Tier 1/2 analysts and driving playbook consistency.

Some Things You’ll Be Working On

  • Alert Monitoring & Triage: Investigating and triaging security alerts across client SIEMs, cloud environments, and EDR/XDR tools.
  • Incident Response Leadership: Coordinating initial investigations, containment strategies, and major incident escalations across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Shift Leadership & Operations: Acting as a senior escalation point on shift, mentoring Tier 1/2 analysts, and ensuring seamless handovers and retrospectives.
  • Process & Playbook Improvement: Analysing threat behaviors, refining response playbooks, and partnering with detection engineering to minimise false positives.
  • Reporting & Client Engagement: Producing structured incident reports, delivering operational updates, and providing insights directly to clients.
