I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

On top of this, construction has just begun on an exciting new Eden Project in Lancashire, set to transform Morecambe Bay seafront into a world-class destination for visitors and learning, with the project due to open at the end of 2028. This is a new split role based in Lancashire, in which the post holder will join a small and highly creative digital content team, and be responsible for the content creation and community management of the Eden Project Communities and Eden Project Morecambe social media channels, as well as contributing to collaborative posts across Eden’s main channels.

Leading on the design and development of digital campaigns that create a step change in our reach and engagement, the post holder will optimise the engagement with our digital community on social media channels, working on content and campaigns which focus on building social cohesion, helping communities to connect with and take care of nature where they live, and take positive action for the planet.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create engaging visual and written content for social media, tailored for different channels and audiences – including photography, video, graphics and compelling captions. Use creativity and innovation to make the most of limited assets, thinking outside the box in order to produce highly engaging content.
  • Spot great stories and find creative ways to bring them to life from across our Eden Project Communities Network and build excitement around the new Eden Project Morecambe, as well as support our national campaigns.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the overall social media and influencer strategy, using ongoing monitoring, testing and evaluation to identify insights, optimise performance and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Grow and strengthen our social media presence across multiple channels through effective community management, identifying and responding to trends and opportunities, and using audience insights to inform our approach.
  • Maintain consistent brand and tone of voice across all channels, whilst adapting our content and engagement to suit each platform and audience.
  • With support and direction from the Senior Digital Design Manager and Head of Marketing, design and deliver low-cost creative digital marketing campaigns that drive participation and engagement in our flagship programmes, The Big Lunch and The Big Help Out, and Greentime17, and use our social platforms to present ideas and content that encourage people to connect with one another and with nature, and take positive action for the planet.
  • Work with the wider PR and Marketing team to identify key audiences, influencers and amplifiers, building relationships and delivering collaborations that extend our reach, support campaign delivery and inform social media strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing team, wider Eden team and external agencies to ensure social media is integrated across our wider communications and marketing activity, identifying opportunities to align messaging, share resources and amplify activity across channels.
  • Ensure our funders and sponsors are built into key messages, and content is in line with our campaigns as well as Eden’s brand and values. Act as a point of digital support for colleagues across the wider team, guiding and training staff on best practice.
  • Develop monthly reports on digital performance using social monitoring tools, implementing impactful changes that boost performance and build our audiences and engagement levels.
  • Maintain and care for key digital assets, including film, photography and our central image library.
  • Support across the digital team when needed and cover annual leave and sickness to ensure no gap in service for Eden’s social media channels.
