Job Introduction
Job Title: Senior Social Workers - Targeted Review Programme
Salary: £44,253 progressing to £48,738 per annum
Location: Stevenage
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent and 6-Months Secondment or Fixed Term (with potential to extend to another 6 months)
Directorate: Adult Care Services
We are seeking experienced Senior Social Workers or Social Workers who are ready to develop into a senior role to join our Targeted Review Programme, which currently sits within the Review Team. There is a permanent position and a 6-month secondment with the scope to extend to another 6 months.
About The Role
This is an exciting role for someone who is passionate about supporting people to live more independently and fulfilling lives. The successful candidate will work alongside individuals to identify what matters most to them and support them to achieve their goals through person-centred, outcome-focused planning.
You will be an excellent communicator who is committed to helping people achieve positive outcomes. You will have experience of engaging effectively with individuals, families, carers, and partner organisations, as well as working collaboratively and negotiating with providers to ensure the best possible support arrangements are in place.
We are looking for someone who is naturally curious and analytical, with the confidence to explore issues in depth rather than accepting information at face value. You will be comfortable providing constructive challenge where appropriate and will be committed to a strengths-based, risk-positive approach that promotes choice, independence, and wellbeing.
About You
You will:
- Be a qualified and Social Work England registered Social Worker, with at least two years post-qualified experience.
- Have considerable experience working with Autistic Adults or those with a Learning Disability and supporting outcome-focused practice.
- Be passionate about promoting independence and enabling people to achieve their goals.
- Have strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Be confident engaging with individuals, families, carers, providers, and partner agencies.
- Demonstrate professional curiosity, judgement, and critical thinking.
- Be able to analyse information, challenge appropriately, and make evidence-based decisions.
- Embrace a strengths-based, person-centred, and risk-positive approach to practice.
- Be motivated to contribute to service development and continuous improvement.
- Hold a driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

This role is open to secondments for eligible employees who work for HCC. If you wish to apply on a secondment basis, you must have your line manager’s approval before submitting your application. Driving Required
You’ll need to have the ability to drive and/or travel around Hertfordshire, either using your own mode of transport or a company car to travel to other locations.
English Fluency
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post (for those whose language is a signed language the provision of a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required).
