Senior Social Worker – In Care Team | 11125 | Secondment Opportunity / Temporary

Fixed Term Contract for 12 months | 37 hours per week | £43,822 to £48,227 per annum | Grade K | Norwich and South Norfolk

It is an exciting time to join our team of dedicated and passionate social workers. As the recent Ofsted outcome found, children in care in Norfolk receive exceptional help and support that enables most to make significant progress. Additionally, children in Norfolk receive ‘consistently strong services that impact positively on their and their families’ lives’ and that Norfolk is a child centred authority where the culture is that ‘children and care leavers come first’.

We are looking to recruit a senior social worker for 12 months for one of our In Care teams, working with Looked After Children based in Norwich.

We welcome applications for those who have experience of working with children and young people who are in Care or are Care Experienced, or those who have children’s social worker experience and the transferrable skills to now work in this area. This is a service to be proud of with its continued commitment to improving the outcomes for our children and young people and being part of a culture which nurtures development, creativity and child and young person-centred practice.

We believe it is vital that children are prepared and able to learn; build positive, long-term relationships and receive family-based care. Norfolk’s social care model is a relationship-based, purposeful approach with social workers practicing in a trauma informed way, incorporating therapeutic approaches within their work with children, young people, their carers and families. Our approach to working with children in Care includes a specialist service with clinicians and practitioners working to support social care teams in meeting need and improving outcomes for young people Looked After in Norfolk.

It is an exciting time to join our Corporate Parenting Service as we embark on a new way of working that allows practitioners to focus on preventative work to support the emotional wellbeing and aspirations for every young person we work with.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
