Liquid Personnel is recruiting a Children’s Social Worker to join its client’s Kinship team, based in Gateshead
We are a dedicated and supportive service committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people who are unable to live with their parents and are being cared for by family members or connected persons.
As a Senior Social Worker within the Kinship Team, you will play a vital role in assessing, supporting, and supervising kinship carers to ensure children are provided with safe, stable, and nurturing family environments. You will bring a high level of expertise to the team, supporting colleagues and ensuring best practice is maintained across all aspects of kinship work.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Deliver a high-quality kinship social work service in line with statutory requirements, legislation, and Gateshead Council policies and procedures.
- Undertake comprehensive kinship assessments, including Connected Person Assessments and Special Guardianship Assessments.
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and supervision to kinship carers and special guardians.
- Ensure that children’s needs, wishes, and feelings are central to all assessments and care planning.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and partner agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Support less experienced social workers through mentoring, coaching, and sharing best practice.
- Prepare detailed assessments, court reports, and permanency plans within required timescales.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with professional standards.
- Contribute to service development and promote high-quality, relationship-based practice.

Qualifications and Experience:
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Social Work England registration.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Social Work.
- Significant post-qualified experience within Children's Services.
- Experience undertaking kinship, connected persons, or special guardianship assessments.
- Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
