On behalf of National Crime Agency (NCA), we are looking for a Senior Software Developer (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract. Hybrid working based in either London, Bristol, Birmingham or Warrington.

Overview

The NCA is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to support a high profile programme within the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) focused on disrupting the online facilitation of Organised Crime through AI and innovative technical capabilities.

Working within a multidisciplinary technical team, you will help build, enhance and scale software capabilities that support operational outcomes through automation, cloud technologies and modern software engineering practices.

As a Senior Software Developer you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain software solutions using Python
  • Build and deploy cloud native applications within AWS
  • Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle from design through to deployment and support
  • Solve complex engineering challenges and build scalable technical capabilities
  • Collaborate with technical and operational stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational effectiveness
  • Support the scaling and enhancement of existing software capabilities
  • Contribute to AI enabled solutions and emerging technologies where appropriate

Essential:

  • Strong commercial experience developing software using Python
  • Experience working with AWS cloud services
  • Experience managing infrastructure using Terraform
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and problem solving skills
  • Experience delivering solutions across the full development lifecycle
  • Ability to work independently within a highly technical environment
  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
