Senior Software Developer (Node.js/Python)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Developer (Node.js/Python) based in United Kingdom.

As a Senior Software Developer, you will help build the backend and AI systems that support an innovative, rapidly growing technology business in the electric mobility sector. You will design, develop, and operate reliable web services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and Python. The role offers significant technical ownership, from architecture and scalability to production operations and continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with AI engineers to bring Python-based AI solutions into robust, production-ready backend systems. Working across product, frontend, QA, DevOps, and external partners, you will help deliver technology that supports critical business operations. You will also contribute to engineering standards, mentor colleagues, and help shape a collaborative, feedback-driven technical culture.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and operate scalable web services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, Python, and other appropriate technologies.
  • Act as a key developer for AI-enabled solutions, working with AI engineers to operationalize Python-based AI tools within Node.js and Python backend environments.
  • Make high-level architectural and technical decisions while balancing scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and maintain production-grade RESTful APIs, applying best practices around authentication, versioning, rate limiting, pagination, and service reliability.
  • Build scalable distributed systems using architectural patterns such as microservices, event-driven systems, and CQRS.
  • Enforce coding standards that promote clean, concise, stable, secure, and extensible software.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues efficiently to maintain system reliability and minimize disruption.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers, product owners, frontend developers, QA specialists, DevOps teams, and external partners to deliver solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Own and prioritize the technical backlog while maintaining transparency around priorities, progress, and dependencies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and engineering approaches and recommend improvements that increase speed, reliability, or product value.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflows, development processes, and engineering practices.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and ensure effective communication across the team in English.
  • Mentor and support new and existing team members, sharing knowledge and acting as a positive technical role model.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, open, and feedback-driven culture focused on learning and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
