Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Python Back End Developer with expertise.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial markets, strong programming skills in Python, and experience developing and maintaining back-end systems for trading applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust back-end systems for trade capture and processing.
  • Design, implement, and optimise data models and database schemas related to Rates trading.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial software solutions.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and financial data feeds.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices to protect sensitive financial information.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in back-end development using Python.
  • Strong knowledge of Rates products (e.g., interest rate swaps, bonds, futures) and trade capture processes.
  • Experience with financial markets and instruments.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with other programming languages such as Java or C++.
  • Understanding of front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a financial services or trading environment.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
