We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer

To lead the design, build, and optimisation of innovative digital solutions within the nBS Digital Solutions team. This role offers the opportunity to apply your expert knowledge across solution design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of our digital portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new digital solutions to meet nBS product backlog requirements and drive project benefits as a lead application developer.
  • Provide high-quality support and maintenance, ensuring solution performance, stability, and timely resolution of defects or changes within SLAs.
  • Support end-to-end delivery of change projects using expert knowledge.
  • Collaborate with third-party developers and E.ON Digital Technologies to optimise nBS solution delivery.
  • Manage and maintain environments, including hosting, integration, access, and security.
  • Continuously self-learn and develop skills in solution platforms and techniques.
  • Advocate for innovation and challenge traditional approaches.
  • Drive value by analysing customer and user behaviour through detailed usage analytics.
  • Communicate complex system issues clearly to colleagues and management.
  • Quickly develop technical expertise on nBS Digital Solutions to assess changes and opportunities.
  • Ensure all developments comply with DD&C governance.
  • Mentor the developer team, offering technical support and managing escalations professionally.

What we need from you

  • Proven experience building successful, low-maintenance enterprise applications and digital solutions.
  • Strong software design and programming skills (Javascript, HTML, XML, SQL, Apex, SOAP, C#, VB.net) and experience with Microsoft.NET and Visual Studio.
  • Experience in using AI tools such as Claude code to fast prototype solutions and mentor other developers in such technologies.
  • Forward-thinking and agile, able to manage multiple projects with flexible prioritisation, anticipating future changes to ensure scalability and opportunity.
  • Proficient in data analysis, process optimisation, and working within change governance and project delivery methodologies (Waterfall & Agile).
  • Excellent communicator, able to translate technical information to non-technical colleagues and bridge gaps between development teams and stakeholders.
  • Sets and maintains high standards in bespoke and digital application development, with strong planning, organisation, self-reliance, and attention to detail.
  • Committed to coaching and guiding teams to ensure consistency across the development lifecycle.
  • Curious, solution-oriented, and driven to deliver “best in class” services while building innovative, opportunity-rich stakeholder relationships.
  • Embraces a culture of trust and empowerment, making autonomous or collaborative decisions to advance design, delivery, and assurance activities.
  • Demonstrates empathy towards colleagues' concerns about automation and digitisation and delivers agile solutions aligned with stakeholder expectations, milestones, and quality standards to achieve the nBS digital strategy.
