About the Opportunity
We're partnered with a leading global technology-driven trading firm that is investing heavily in its Developer Experience and Engineering Productivity function.
This team is responsible for building the internal platforms, tooling, and infrastructure that enable hundreds of engineers to develop, test, and deploy software efficiently. As software delivery speed is a key competitive advantage for the business, the Build Platform team sits at the centre of the engineering organisation, owning the systems that every engineer relies on daily.
This is an opportunity to have a company-wide impact by improving build performance, developer workflows, CI/CD infrastructure, and engineering productivity at scale.
The Role
As a Software Engineer within the Build Platform team, you'll help shape the future of software development across the organisation by building modern tooling, scalable build systems, and automated workflows that enable engineers to move from idea to production faster and more reliably.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing modern build systems that improve build speed, reliability, and consistency across engineering teams
- Developing shared build libraries, reusable CI/CD pipelines, and standardised container images
- Building observability into engineering platforms to measure performance, reliability, adoption, and developer experience
- Optimising build performance through caching, dependency management, incremental execution, and efficient scheduling strategies
- Creating workflows that support automated testing, validation, and deployment processes
- Working closely with software engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and improve developer workflows
- Supporting adoption of new tools, frameworks, and engineering practices across multiple teams
- Researching and evaluating emerging technologies within the build systems and developer productivity space

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
