This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in United Kingdom.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll build the APIs, integrations, and infrastructure that connect a modern hospitality platform with a broad ecosystem of technology partners.
Your work will directly influence the reliability, scalability, and extensibility of products used by businesses around the world.
- You’ll develop primarily in Python while applying strong software engineering principles across distributed systems, databases, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
- You’ll design resilient event-driven workflows that protect data integrity and allow systems to recover gracefully from partner failures.
- The role combines hands-on development with architectural decision-making, technical discovery, and close collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You’ll join a pragmatic, globally distributed engineering environment that values ownership, defensive design, observability, and continuous improvement.
- This is an opportunity to solve complex integration challenges while helping shape reliable technology at significant scale.
Accountabilities
- Contribute daily as a senior member of an agile engineering team, following strong software development practices and contributing to the shared codebase.
- Develop, maintain, and improve production applications primarily using Python.
- Design and deliver reliable APIs and integration capabilities that enable partners to connect with the wider product ecosystem at scale.
- Build resilient event-driven workflows incorporating idempotency, retries, dead-letter handling, reconciliation, and graceful degradation.
- Design software that remains reliable when interacting with external systems that may have limited control, availability, or predictability.
- Apply strong engineering practices to produce clean, maintainable, well-tested, well-documented, and efficient code.
- Participate in technical discussions covering complex requirements, architecture, design patterns, and implementation approaches with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate directly with customers and technology partners to understand challenges and identify effective technical solutions.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, libraries, tools, and techniques to determine their suitability for the platform.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and the continuous improvement of development and operational practices.
- Drive strong API design and developer experience so that partners can integrate efficiently and reliably.
- Support knowledge sharing, code reviews, and a collaborative environment where engineering skills and capabilities can grow.
- Own aspects of cloud-native delivery and operations, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production incident response.

Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating production applications.
- Strong proficiency in at least one production programming language such as Python, Java, TypeScript, or PHP, with the ability to work effectively across a broader technology stack.
- Strong understanding of relational data modeling, PostgreSQL, caching, API design, distributed systems, and asynchronous or event-driven architectures.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals covering maintainable architecture, design patterns, automated testing, debugging, performance optimization, security, and operational reliability.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs and modern API design best practices.
- Experience working in environments where high availability, scalability, security, automation, and observability are core engineering priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to observability and data-driven engineering decisions through metrics, experiments, prototypes, and system insights.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices and a passion for building reliable, developer-friendly APIs.
- Experience owning cloud-native application delivery and operations, including technologies such as Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Argo CD, AWS, CI/CD, and observability platforms.
- Experience participating in or leading production incident response and operational troubleshooting.
- Strong teamwork, organization, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with business-level English proficiency.
- Comfortable collaborating effectively within a fully remote and globally distributed engineering organization.
- Strong sense of ownership and a pragmatic approach to solving complex technical problems.
