Senior Software Engineer | Backend / Distributed Systems
Most backend roles are about building another feature into an established product.
This one is about helping build the infrastructure that modern software depends on.
Cloudsmith is creating the platform companies use to securely manage, govern and distribute the software packages, containers and dependencies flowing through their organisation.
It sits directly in the path between developers writing code and that software reaching production.
That creates some genuinely difficult engineering problems:
- Designing distributed systems that remain reliable under serious scale
- Moving and serving huge volumes of software artifacts globally
- Building secure, multi-tenant backend platforms
- Improving performance, resilience and observability across complex systems
- Making sensible architectural decisions where there is no obvious playbook
- Balancing engineering quality, customer impact and the realities of a fast-growing product
