Senior Software Engineer

Location: Liverpool, UK
Working pattern: Full-time, hybrid, 2 days per week in the Liverpool office

About TRIVXA

TRIVXA builds software for restaurants, cafés, and retail operators. Our platform brings together areas such as inventory, sales, staffing, compliance, and day-to-day operations into one place. The aim is to give operators better visibility over their business, reduce admin, and make everyday decisions easier. We are building software for a sector where things move quickly and where small improvements can make a real difference to how a business runs.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build and improve the TRIVXA platform. You will work on backend services, APIs, integrations, databases, and the systems that support our core product. You will also be involved in technical decisions, architecture, code reviews, and improving the way we build and ship software. This is a hands-on role. We are looking for someone who enjoys building things, solving technical problems, and taking ownership of their work. You will work closely with product, design, and engineering to turn real operational problems into reliable software.

What You’ll Work On

  • Build and maintain backend services and APIs.
  • Work on systems that handle data across inventory, sales, staffing, compliance, and other operational areas.
  • Build and maintain integrations with external platforms and services.
  • Improve system reliability, performance, security, and scalability.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical decisions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
  • Take part in code reviews.
  • Work with product and design on new features.
  • Help identify technical risks and areas that need improvement.
  • Support other engineers and share knowledge across the team.
  • Help improve engineering standards and development practices as the company grows.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

We care more about what you can do than how many years you have been doing it. We do not hire based purely on years of experience, job titles, or whether your background follows a traditional route. We look at your technical ability, judgement, problem-solving, quality of work, and how you approach real engineering problems. You should have:

  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, software design, and architecture.
  • Strong software development skills and experience building production applications.
  • Experience building backend services and APIs.
  • A good understanding of object-oriented programming and software design patterns.
  • Experience with backend technologies such as Node.js, Java, .NET, or similar.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience working with REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Understanding of CI/CD, testing, version control, and modern development workflows.
  • Familiarity with containerisation tools such as Docker.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with both technical and non-technical people.
  • The confidence to contribute to technical decisions and question things when you think there is a better approach.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related subject is useful, but it is not the only route into this role.
  • If you can show that you have the skills and can do the work, we will consider you.
  • Experience in hospitality, retail, inventory systems, workforce management, operational software, or startups is useful, but not required.

How We Hire

TRIVXA uses a skills and performance based approach to hiring. We are not interested in filtering people out just because they do not have a certain number of years of experience or a specific job title. We are interested in how you think, how you solve problems, what you can build, and the standard of work you produce. We welcome applications from self-taught engineers, career switchers, people from non-traditional backgrounds, and candidates who may not match every line of the job description. If you can do the job well, we want to hear from you.

How We Work

This is a hybrid role based in Liverpool. You will be expected to work from our Liverpool office 2 days per week. We are a growing company, so you will have the opportunity to influence both the product and the way the engineering team works. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, nationality, socioeconomic background, or career path. We want to build a friendly, inclusive team where people are judged on their contribution, ability, and potential. If you are interested in the role but do not meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We hire based on ability and performance.
