Insight Global are seeking a Senior Real-Time Software Engineer (C++) for a leading global financial markets and trading technology organisation.
This position requires 4 days onsite in London, United Kingdom.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a highly collaborative team responsible for building and supporting low-latency, high-performance trading systems used across European financial markets. You will work closely with engineering and business stakeholders to develop innovative solutions, take ownership of key features from design through production, and contribute to the ongoing success of a critical real-time trading platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance high-performance C++ applications within real-time trading environments
- Build scalable and production-ready software with a strong focus on performance, quality, and testability
- Own features end-to-end, from technical design through deployment and ongoing support
- Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions
- Mentor and support other software engineers within the team
- Act as a subject matter expert across key platform areas
- Participate in technical interviews and candidate evaluations
- Diagnose and resolve complex production issues as required
- Provide occasional support outside standard business hours when necessary

Must-Have Requirements Include:
- Strong experience developing applications using modern C++
- Experience building high-performance, low-level software solutions
- Proven ability to take ownership of projects and features through the full software development lifecycle
- Experience working within Linux environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting fellow engineers
- Strong focus on software quality, testing, and production readiness
Plusses Include:
- Experience with SQL and relational databases
- Python development experience
- Exposure to low-latency, real-time, or trading systems
- Financial services or capital markets experience
- Exposure to modern C++ standards such as C++20
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
