Founding Software Engineer London | AI x Climate Tech | Competitive Salary + Equity
We're building an exciting AI company tackling some of the biggest challenges in civil engineering and infrastructure.
We're looking for a Founding Software Engineer to join a small, ambitious team and help build products that have a genuine impact on how infrastructure gets designed and delivered.
This is particularly interesting if you're a strong backend/product engineer who wants to get much closer to AI. You might not be getting the exposure to LLMs, agents and AI systems that you want in your current role. Here, you'll be working with them every day — while still using the engineering fundamentals you've built your career on.

What you'll be doing
- Building production systems across Python, TypeScript, React, Postgres and GCP
- Designing and operating scalable backend systems
- Building LLM and agentic workflows using Gemini, Claude, GPT and open-weight models
- Working on retrieval, orchestration and model evaluation
- Taking features from idea → build → production
- Working directly with customers, including engineers and infrastructure teams
- Making architectural decisions that will shape the product and engineering team
Who we're looking for
- 5+ years' experience as a strong backend/software engineer
- Experience designing and operating production systems
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and architecture
- A track record of shipping quickly without compromising where it matters
- A Bachelor's/Master's in CS, Software Engineering or another STEM discipline
- Ideally some exposure to LLMs, AI or agentic systems — but you don't need to be an AI specialist
- High agency, low ego and a genuine desire to build
