The Role:
Our client is seeking two Senior Software Engineers to join its Germany launch programme, working as embedded members of product-focused engineering squads. The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering financial related capabilities and broader digital banking platform initiatives within a cloud-native, highly regulated financial services environment.
- Type: Contract
- Day Rate: £500 outside IR35
- Onsite Requirement: This role requires you to be in office 5 days per week (Canary Wharf, London)
- Contract length: 1 year initial length (high likelihood to extend further)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and support scalable cloud-native backend services and microservices.
- Build secure, resilient, highly available systems using modern software engineering practices.
- Develop REST APIs, distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders to deliver business outcomes.
- Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment and production support.
- Drive system performance, scalability, reliability and operational excellence.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, automation and zero-downtime deployment practices.
- Mentor engineers, promote best practices and contribute to architectural decision-making.

Required Experience:
- Extensive backend engineering experience with strong Java expertise.
- Kotlin experience is highly desirable.
- Proven experience building and supporting cloud-native applications and microservices architectures.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, REST APIs and event-driven/messaging-based solutions.
- Experience with automated testing including unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
- Production support and incident management experience within critical systems environments.
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments.
