Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in United Kingdom.
This is an exciting opportunity for a backend-focused Software Engineer to help build and scale a cutting-edge, AI-powered platform that processes real-time data at scale. In this role, you will develop highly concurrent backend systems, design scalable microservices, and contribute to the architecture of products used across diverse physical environments. Working in a collaborative, fully remote engineering team, you will partner with product managers, application developers, and deployment engineers to deliver robust, high-performance solutions. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex distributed systems challenges, optimizing performance, and building software that has a measurable impact on real-world operations.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and optimize highly concurrent backend systems to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Architect and implement core backend microservices that support real-time, large-scale applications.
- Scale platform capabilities to support environments ranging from small deployments to large, high-traffic venues.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and application developers to understand business requirements, identify technical challenges, and deliver effective solutions.
- Partner with deployment and infrastructure engineers to streamline releases and ensure efficient software delivery.
- Contribute to system architecture decisions, code quality, testing practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain secure, maintainable, and well-tested services that support evolving product capabilities.

Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience developing backend software applications.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with TypeScript and Node.js for backend development.
- Strong expertise in RESTful API design, backend architecture, unit testing, and the Jest testing framework.
- Solid knowledge of SQL, relational data modeling, static typing, and Docker-based development workflows.
- Experience developing event-driven or real-time distributed systems.
- Familiarity with modern backend frameworks such as NestJS.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python, Go, or C# is highly valued.
- Exposure to technologies such as MongoDB, gRPC, Helm, Kustomize, Domain-Driven Design, Event Sourcing, or CQRS is considered an advantage.
- Previous experience in e-commerce, payment systems, checkout platforms, or similar transaction-heavy environments is a plus.
- Frontend development experience with React or React Native is beneficial but not required.
