✨ The Role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the scalable applications and services behind our rail distribution platforms. You'll work with Product Owners, QA Engineers, Architects, and fellow developers across the development lifecycle, turning requirements into high-quality technical solutions.

You'll write clean, efficient code focused on performance, reliability, and security - shaping technical discussions, solution design, and code reviews within an Agile environment. This suits an experienced engineer with strong problem-solving skills, ready to evolve our engineering standards and mentor team members.

πŸ”§ What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software components and services
  • Build and support modern APIs, ensuring reliability and maintainability
  • Contribute to scalable, modular application and service architecture
  • Perform unit and integration testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, and developers through Agile delivery
  • Lead code reviews and technical discussions to improve engineering practices
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship, supporting knowledge sharing

🎯 What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years' hands-on software development experience
  • Strong knowledge of Java 11+, Spring, and Spring Boot
  • Good knowledge of Hibernate (or equivalent ORM) and MySQL; NoSQL a bonus
  • Experience building JSON/XML APIs; RESTful knowledge a plus
  • Agile/Scrum experience, with Git and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab a plus)
  • AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes experience beneficial
  • Experience with Claude Code or other AI coding tools
  • Familiarity with microservices/SaaS architecture; EDA and DDD a plus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to prioritise under pressure
  • Autonomy and ownership, comfortable navigating ambiguity
