Senior Software Engineer
Location: Oxford, UK – Hybrid (3 days per week in the Oxford office)
Salary: £60,000 – £86,300 per annum, depending on experience (+10% bonus)
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a growing and highly skilled software development team in Oxford.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative, cloud-based software solutions that support major decisions within the global energy transition. You’ll play a key role in turning product ideas into high-quality, customer-facing technology, working across the full software development lifecycle from design through to deployment.
The role will suit a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing technical direction and helping other engineers develop their skills.
The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
- Drive architectural decisions and establish technical direction for major projects.
- Take technical ownership of projects from inception through to completion.
- Build and deliver scalable, reliable and secure software solutions.
- Work with modern technologies including Node.js, TypeScript, ExpressJS, React, AWS and microservices.
- Contribute to the development of customer-facing applications and micro-frontends.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective technical solutions.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, supporting their professional development.
- Champion innovation, continuous learning and operational excellence.
- Take end-to-end ownership of critical systems, ensuring high levels of reliability, scalability and security.
- Contribute to a development environment where software can be released frequently and efficiently.

About You
We’re looking for someone with substantial commercial experience developing complex software solutions and a strong track record of solving challenging technical problems.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong commercial experience with technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, ExpressJS, React, SQL, NoSQL and/or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience leading technical projects from inception through to delivery.
- A proven ability to mentor and develop other engineers.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience with unit testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- A passion for delivering high-quality software and excellent user experiences.
- Experience with Python would be advantageous.
