Senior Java Technical Lead | Distributed Data Platforms

I'm partnering with a leading global financial institution seeking a Senior Java Engineer to help shape the future of a critical enterprise-wide data platform.

This is not a role maintaining existing systems. You'll be responsible for driving the evolution of a highly distributed platform that sits at the centre of multiple business areas and supports real-time decision-making across the organisation.

You'll have significant influence over architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction while remaining deeply hands-on in the design and development of high-performance systems.

What you'll be doing

  • Architecting and building highly scalable distributed services responsible for processing and delivering business-critical data at scale
  • Solving complex challenges around performance, resiliency, observability, and data quality
  • Driving the adoption of modern engineering practices across a strategic platform undergoing continued evolution
  • Working directly with senior business stakeholders to turn complex requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Leading technical discussions, mentoring engineers, and influencing architectural decisions across multiple teams
  • Playing a key role in shaping the long-term roadmap of a platform that is central to the firm's data strategy

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
