Senior Software Engineer - TypeScript, JavaScript & iOS
Up to £90 per hour (Inside IR35) | 40-hour working week
Manchester - 2 days per week in the office, remote working otherwise
Initial 6-month contract
A global technology company is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong TypeScript and JavaScript experience, alongside solid iOS development skills, to join their dynamic team.
This is a full-stack engineering role, with the majority of the work focused on building and delivering features across the wider application and service stack using TypeScript and JavaScript. Around 40% of the role will focus on iOS development, so strong hands-on experience with the iOS SDK and Swift and/or Objective-C is also required.
You will play a key role in building app-wide features, improving infrastructure, solving complex technical challenges and driving technical excellence across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and deliver app-wide features, systems and services across TypeScript, JavaScript and iOS.
- Develop and maintain high-quality software across the wider application stack, with a primary focus on TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Contribute to iOS development, building and enhancing mobile features using Swift and/or Objective-C.
- Work across different layers of the technology stack to deliver end-to-end features and solutions.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application and technical issues.
- Continuously improve services and applications to enhance performance, scalability and resource optimisation.
- Lead technical initiatives that improve development processes and contribute to business opportunities for the team's product and the wider company.
- Lead and contribute to technical and architectural discussions, helping the team reach effective and scalable solutions.
- Mentor and support colleagues in their professional development, including onboarding new team members.
- Promote a collaborative working environment and help turn individual ideas into effective technical solutions.
- Contribute to recruitment activities, including technical interviews and onboarding of new hires.

Qualifications and Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience across multiple technologies and programming languages.
- Strong commercial experience with TypeScript and JavaScript, with the ability to work confidently across a full-stack environment.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, development practices and building scalable applications and services.
- 5+ years of experience working with the iOS SDK, with hands-on development experience using Swift and/or Objective-C.
- Strong knowledge of iOS development and relevant Apple frameworks.
- Comfortable moving between web/application development and mobile development as part of the same product.
- Experience with automated testing and deploying applications, including iOS apps.
- Familiarity with A/B testing in app development.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality software.
- Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working collaboratively within a technical team.
- A passion for exploring new technologies and finding effective solutions to complex technical challenges.
