Overview
At Waters, we are looking for a highly motivated and innovative Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions that support our scientific and analytical technologies.
You will play a key role in modernizing platforms, driving technical excellence, and leveraging emerging technologies including cloud computing, AI-assisted development, automation, and data-driven solutions.
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Scientists, and Engineers to solve complex business and customer challenges while contributing to the technical direction of our products and platforms. You will champion engineering best practices, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and help shape the future of software development at Waters.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-quality, scalable software solutions that meet customer and business requirements, ensuring reliable and maintainable products.
- Drive technical design and architectural decisions to support long-term product sustainability, performance, and extensibility.
- Ensure software quality and security through code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to engineering best practices, reducing defects and technical debt.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and emerging technologies to improve engineering productivity, innovation, and customer value.
- Implement and improve DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation, to increase delivery efficiency and product reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to deliver solutions that align with product objectives and customer needs.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and influencing engineering decisions, helping develop team capability and promote technical excellence.

Qualifications
What will make you a successful Software Developer at Waters:
- Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related science, engineering, or technical discipline.
- Proven experience developing and delivering high-quality software solutions using modern technologies such as C#,.NET, and TypeScript.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience in APIs, microservices, software design patterns, testing methodologies, and secure development practices.
- Demonstrates accountability, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes that balance technical excellence with customer and business needs.
- Demonstrates the potential to act as a Technical Lead by providing technical guidance, influencing engineering decisions, mentoring others, and promoting engineering best practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Agile, cross-functional, and global teams.
- Passion for adopting new technologies, AI-assisted development, automation, and continuous improvement, with a commitment to ongoing learning and knowledge sharing.
