The Cisco Common Platform Services (CCPS) organization is transforming how Cisco delivers software-as-a-service by providing a modern, consistent, and secure platform for all! With demonstrated ability, our global team brings innovative methodologies to building and managing hybrid cloud environments. We focus on platform management services, continuously evaluating infrastructure and operations to ensure efficiency and precision. Our expertise in IaaS and PaaS, combined with repeatable and portable delivery models, enables the rapid and secure deployment of applications.
Within CCPS, the Cloud Software & Solutions (CSS) group designs and develops OpenStack and Kubernetes platform solutions with an emphasis on quality, stability, simplification, user experience, scalability, performance, and portability. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and build scalable cloud-native applications and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and Maintain Python-based Platform Test platform (OpenStack, Kubernetes, APIs) validation framework and pipelines running the validation framework.
- Identify regressions, performance issues, and stability risks in the platforms and suggest remediations.
- Have good exposure and worked on the quality Engineering initiatives. Should have good experience on working on the solution test eng
- Generating proper allure based reports after each iteration and Analyze logs, metrics, and platform behavior
- Collaborate closely with SRE, security, networking and application teams to deliver robust and scalable platform validations
- Validate Kubernetes/OpenStack/APIs releases (functional + non-functional)
- Drive AI-Assisted Engineering Initiatives: Spearhead the adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Github Copilot, custom LLM agents) to fundamentally scale team velocity, troubleshooting efficiency and automated code generation

Required Qualifications
- Education & Experience: BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent, with 10+ years of professional experience in software development or cloud/platform engineering.
- Python & System Design: Architect-level proficiency in Python, with a proven track record of designing highly scalable, maintainable, and modular frameworks from scratch.
- Deep Cloud-Native Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience managing production-grade Kubernetes or OpenStack environments, complemented by advanced observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- IaC & CI/CD Governance: Expert command of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and GitOps principles, with experience building enterprise-grade CI/CD governance and shift-left testing methodologies.
- Troubleshooting & Fundamentals: Elite diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities in distributed, multi-tenant cloud environments, supported by a strong foundation in networking and QA best practices.
- AI-Assisted Engineering: Strategic implementation of AI-assisted engineering workflows to drive optimization, efficiency, and quality across all phases of the SDLC.

Preferred Qualifications
- Enterprise-Scale Kubernetes: Experience managing, securing, and testing multi-tenant, multi-region Kubernetes deployments handling massive traffic.
- Evangelism & Community: Active contribution to open-source cloud-native projects (CNCF) or a track record of presenting at tech conferences/meetups.
- Familiarity with OpenStack in private or hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience with Building Platform frameworks and tools and test-driven development practices.
- Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, ArgoCD or developer platform enablement.
