Senior Software Engineer (Backend & Automation) – 6-Month Contract
Remote (UK) | £114,000 per annum (pro rata) | Extension Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a world-class engineering team responsible for maintaining and improving the backend systems behind a large-scale, consumer-facing platform used across VR, mobile, and PC.
You'll focus on building automation that keeps production systems running smoothly, reducing operational overhead, and ensuring reliable deployments across multiple platforms. This is a hands-on backend engineering role where you'll develop AI-assisted automation, improve CI/CD pipelines, monitor production health, and build tooling that detects and resolves issues before they impact users.

Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain automation for release pipelines, deployment health, and incident detection
- Develop AI-assisted tooling to identify, diagnose, and repair build failures
- Maintain cloud deployment pipelines and production backend services
- Monitor application performance, reliability, and quality metrics
- Reduce manual operational effort through intelligent automation
- Support infrastructure migrations to ensure CI/CD reliability

About you:
- 8+ years' software engineering experience
- Strong background in backend systems, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure
- Experience building AI-powered developer tools or autonomous systems
- Proven track record improving reliability through automation
- Experience with production monitoring, incident response, and large-scale deployments
Experience with cloud streaming, live services, CDN pipelines, or self-healing systems is highly desirable.
