Senior Software Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our London (Hybrid - 3 days from the office) team. In this role, you’ll help us improve code structure and architecture while leading team project planning to maximise efficiency and reliability across our production systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:

  • Drive Technical Excellence: Improve code structure and architecture across your team’s remit, performing high-impact code reviews to ensure quality and scalability.
  • Lead Project Planning: Foresee dependencies and risks, partnering closely with Product and Design to ensure smooth delivery of complex features.
  • Optimise Operations: Simplify the maintenance and operation of production systems, promoting visibility, health, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate & Influence: Build relationships across engineering teams to identify collaboration opportunities and influence the wider technical roadmap.
  • Mentor & Hire: Support the personal growth of your colleagues through technical guidance and take an active role in conducting engineering interviews to scale our team.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others:

  • Strong Engineering Principles: Deep pride in writing readable, well-designed, and well-tested software.
  • Backend Expertise: Significant experience building web-based applications (we use Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, and Rust).
  • Data Proficiency: Practical experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and "NoSQL" backends like Redis, DynamoDB, or ElasticSearch.
  • Systems at Scale: Proven ability to manage web architecture at scale (handling 20krpm and above).
  • Technical Leadership: Experience breaking down large pieces of work and guiding implementation choices for a team of engineers.
