Senior Software Engineer – Algorithms

Content Guru is a leading provider of enterprise cloud Customer Experience (CX) and contact centre solutions, supporting organisations across the globe through innovative technology including Generative AI and our storm® platform.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Workforce Management (WFM) development team at our Head Office in Bracknell, Berkshire. With a particular focus on algorithmic, logical and mathematical development, you will use your strong software engineering experience to develop and enhance sophisticated applications and services within our mission-critical communications platform.

What we are looking for…

You will be an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex algorithmic and mathematical problems, with strong commercial experience working on systems containing significant algorithmic components.

You will have strong C# development skills, a solid understanding of software engineering principles and the ability to approach complex problems logically and creatively. You will also be confident taking ownership of complex development work, contributing to technical decisions and supporting less experienced engineers.

Key responsibilities of the role…

  • Design, develop and maintain applications and features, with a particular focus on algorithmic and mathematical functionality.
  • Write clean, well-structured and maintainable code, principally using C#.
  • Develop a strong understanding of existing algorithms, their parameters and key use cases.
  • Identify creative and logical approaches to improving and extending algorithms.
  • Contribute to the design, specification and refinement of development work.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment and documentation.
  • Work with customers and colleagues to understand requirements and explain algorithm behaviours.
  • Take ownership of complex development work and contribute to technical decision-making.
  • Support and mentor less experienced engineers where appropriate.
  • Continuously develop your technical knowledge and contribute to improvements across the team.

About you…

  • Strong commercial software development experience.
  • Strong experience using C# in a commercial environment.
  • Experience working on commercial systems with significant algorithmic or mathematical components.
  • Strong logical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of software development practices including version control, CI and testing.
  • Ability to write and test code against both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with SQL, Python or TypeScript would be advantageous.
