Referment is working with a growing energy technology company to hire a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of software supporting its connected energy-storage systems.

This is a hands-on engineering role spanning both IoT device software and cloud backend development. You'll work on the C# software running on connected devices as well as the cloud platform used to collect, process and expose data from those systems.

You'll work closely with firmware, data and engineering teams to develop and maintain the infrastructure connecting physical energy systems with the cloud.

The Role

You'll Be Responsible For

  • Developing and maintaining C#/.NET software running on IoT devices.
  • Developing backend services for the company's cloud platform.
  • Designing and building APIs for external systems and data integrations.
  • Maintaining reliable communication between connected devices and cloud infrastructure.
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Improving the reliability and scalability of the IoT platform.
  • Working closely with firmware, data and hardware engineers.
  • Collaborating with international software and technical teams.
  • Taking ownership of software from design through to deployment and ongoing operation.

What We're Looking For

You'll Ideally Have

  • Significant professional C#/.NET engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with modern.NET /.NET Core.
  • Experience building cloud-based applications and services.
  • Experience with Azure or another major cloud platform.
  • Experience with Docker.
  • Strong backend and API development experience.
  • Experience designing reliable production software.
  • The ability to work autonomously within a small engineering team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Exposure to any of the following would also be useful:

  • Azure IoT
  • CAN or Modbus
  • Kubernetes
