Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (CFD)
Location: Filton - minimum 3 days on site per week. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role
Salary: £46,350

Role Description:
You'll play a key role in developing and supporting BAE Systems' CFD toolset, contributing to the aerodynamic analysis of aerospace platforms. Working within a specialist team of CFD, aerodynamics and software engineering experts, you'll contribute to the development of C++based simulation software and deliver innovative solutions to engineering challenges. Alongside software development, you'll apply your CFD knowledge to a range of aerodynamic and multi-physics simulation projects, using both proprietary and commercial tools to provide critical insights that support engineering decision-making across the business.
Core Duties:
- Gather user requirements and develop new CFD software features and numerical algorithms
- Design, develop and test C++ software enhancements in line with quality and best-practice standards
- Optimise, tune and validate parallel code for High Performance Computing (HPC) environments
- Perform CFD and multi-physics simulations, analysing and reporting technical findings
- Maintain expertise in CFD, numerical methods, HPC and related technologies
- Manage software configuration, release documentation and project records in line with quality processes

Essential Skills:
- Degree in a STEM discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience developing software in C++
- Understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), including numerical methods and solution techniques
- Good Linux programming and debugging skills, with knowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC) environments and parallel computing using MPI
