Help us use technology to make a big green dent in the universe!
Kraken powers some of the most innovative global developments in energy. We create the technology that redefines utilities and unlocks a new energy system of the future. By optimising renewable generation, building a more intelligent grid, and empowering utilities to deliver an exceptional customer experience, our operating system is transforming the industry worldwide.
It’s an incredibly exciting time to work in energy. Join us on our mission to improve the lives of ONE BILLION humans within the decade and shape a cleaner, better future for everyone.
The team:
The Comms team builds and manages the technology that enables Kraken to communicate with customers across multiple channels, including phone, email, live chat, and physical post. The team is responsible for both the underlying systems and the product features that support these customer interactions.
A key area of the team is voice and telephony, where they build the technology used by energy and support specialists to speak with customers. This includes managing real-time calls, handling customers and specialists joining or leaving calls, responding to connection and network issues, and ensuring calls can be reliably maintained or recovered when problems occur.
Unlike more traditional transactional backend systems, much of the Comms technology is highly real-time and event-driven. The team works with event streams, queues, and continuously changing system states to manage interactions as they happen.
The team also integrates with third-party communication providers, such as Twilio, which supports Kraken’s phone networks and email sending.
Overall, Comms sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer operations, building the technology that enables Kraken’s customer-facing teams to communicate effectively and reliably with customers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
