LemFi (Series B)
LemFi is building the go-to financial app for the Global South.
Moving to a new country shouldn’t mean starting from zero. That's why our team of 400+ spanning 20+ countries is building a financial ecosystem that helps immigrants stay connected to home, build stability, and create wealth regardless of where they are from or where they live.
What began as fast, affordable remittances is now evolving into a complete platform for multi-currency accounts, payments, credit, and long-term financial growth.
With millions of users across the globe, we process over $1B in monthly transactions to 30+ countries, proving that borders shouldn't limit financial opportunity.
About the Role
LemFi's Credit tribe is early and moving fast. We're building the infrastructure that will power lending products for millions of people who've historically been locked out of fair credit - immigrants, diaspora communities, and the financially underserved across our 21 operating markets. This is a ground-floor opportunity: the tribe is being built right now, and the systems you design today will be the foundation everything else sits on.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Credit tribe and own core backend services end-to-end. You'll be working primarily in Go, with some existing Java services in the mix - switching between them is not the blocker, deep engineering craft and an instinct for how credit products behave is. We move fast and we don't micromanage, which means you'll need to bring the domain awareness to make the right call before anyone has to tell you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You'll Build and Own
- Design, build and operate high-reliability backend services that power LemFi's credit products, from loan origination and underwriting through to repayment and collections.
- Make the right architectural calls independently - data residency, service boundaries, state-machine design for loan lifecycles - without needing to be told what a credit-safe system looks like.
- Own your services in production: instrument them, monitor them, debug them, and hold the bar on reliability and correctness.
- Work closely with product and compliance to translate credit-domain requirements into clean, testable, maintainable code.
- Use AI coding tools actively to accelerate delivery and improve test coverage, while taking full ownership of the correctness of every line that ships.
- Contribute to growing the tribe - as one of the earliest engineers you'll help set the engineering culture, review others' work, and raise the bar on how we build.
Your Experience
- Strong backend engineering in Go; Java experience is a plus given our existing services, but Go is the primary language.
- Meaningful fintech experience - you understand how financial systems behave under load, under regulation, and under audit.
- Exposure to credit products (lending, underwriting, repayment, collections) at any level - even adjacent - so you arrive with the right instincts, not just a willingness to learn them.
- Solid grasp of distributed systems design: event-driven architecture, service boundaries, data consistency, and failure modes.
- You care about correctness and data integrity as much as velocity - you've worked in environments where getting it wrong has real consequences for real people.
- Comfortable operating with autonomy in an environment where the spec is never fully finished and the team is still being built.
