Senior Software Engineer (C# .Net / .Net Core)
Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £120k
A Senior Software Engineer with strong C# and.NET experience is sought by a major financial services organisation for a hands-on modernisation role. You’ll help move business-critical applications to modern.NET and cloud platforms while delivering new features.
The objective is to simplify and modernise an established application estate, much of which still uses legacy technology, while continuing to develop new functionality. Working with the team lead and other engineers, you’ll build software, scripts and tools, contribute to cloud migration, and work across legacy and modern code. You’ll help define the target architecture and roadmap, and improve automation, security, performance, scalability, resilience and reusability. The work is expected to be split roughly equally between modernisation and new features.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
