Role: Senior Lead Software Engineer – DevOps / Integration Specialist (Electronic Trading)

Location: London, UK (Onsite)
Type: Contract – Inside IR35

Job Description

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer within the Commercial & Investment Banking – Equities Electronic Trading team, you will be responsible for enhancing, building, and delivering secure, scalable, and market-leading technology solutions. The role focuses on Continuous Integration, automation, testing, and integration of electronic trading platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Continuous Integration (CI) frameworks.
  • Automate testing processes and manual workflows.
  • Integrate Front Office, Middle Office, and Back Office trading systems.
  • Manage release processes and provide environment and production support.
  • Perform client, venue certification, and connectivity for exchanges, markets, and dark pools.
  • Test and validate individual applications and end-to-end integrations.
  • Configure and maintain trading applications and downstream systems.
  • Collaborate with Application Development, Business Analysts, Operations, stakeholders, and clients.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • Strong programming skills in: Java, Python, Unix/Shell Scripting
  • Experience with Automation, Monitoring, and Surveillance.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD and automation.
  • Experience creating and automating Test Strategies and Test Plans.
  • Strong system design, application development, testing, and operational stability experience.
  • Practical Cloud Native experience.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

  • Electronic Trading or Capital Markets experience.

  • FIX Protocol knowledge.

  • Knowledge of:

    • Order Management Systems (OMS)
    • Algorithmic Trading
    • Smart Order Router (SOR)
    • DMA / Sponsored DMA
    • Dark Pools
    • Equities Exchange Protocols
  • Knowledge of kdb/q is an added advantage.
