Job Description
YAGRO Ltd
YAGRO Ltd (www.yagro.com) is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with strong technical expertise and proven experience in delivery planning and line management. The role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS) and white label technology solutions across the full stack. It combines hands-on engineering with planning and coordinating delivery, managing and developing engineers, and working closely with product and commercial colleagues to translate customer needs into secure, scalable, and reliable software for agri-food enterprises.
Whilst this is a largely remote role, you will be required to attend the Cambridge office one day a week.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Proficiency & Problem Solving
- Develop a strong understanding of YAGRO’s stack and products within your first three months, becoming the technical authority for the systems and features you own.
- Design, build, and maintain production-quality software across the full stack, using Python, TypeScript, and raw SQL against PostgreSQL, without an ORM.
- Develop responsive applications using Vue 3 and Nuxt in SPA mode, alongside asynchronous Python services using FastAPI or equivalent frameworks.
- Lead architectural design, applying sound software design principles and knowledge of databases, web frameworks, and distributed data processing to build scalable, efficient solutions.
- Evaluate and justify technical trade-offs, including the cost, performance, and reliability of AWS Lambda processing pipelines, considering cold starts, container sizing, retries, and error handling.
- Move confidently between products to address new features, complex technical issues, and scalability challenges, building cross-product familiarity with support where needed.
Project Planning & Collaboration
- Act as the technical counterpart to the Project Manager, translating requirements into clear technical plans and breaking multi-month initiatives into achievable milestones.
- Contribute to sprint and quarterly planning by estimating effort, identifying dependencies, assessing capacity, and surfacing risks or sequencing constraints early.
- Help define scope, keep delivery plans coherent across engineers, and recommend changes when technical cost or risk outweighs the expected benefit.
- Challenge assumptions constructively, explaining feasibility, scope, and delivery decisions clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Lead technical discussions and code reviews, building agreement through sound reasoning and practical guidance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions or equivalent tooling, incorporating linting, testing, type checking, and deployment on merge.
