🚀 Backend Engineer – AI Startup | London | £120k + Equity
I’m working with a fast-growing, well-funded AI startup building a product already being used daily and has huge uptake.
They’re now looking for a Backend Engineer to join their early engineering team in London, working directly alongside the CTO and founders.
This is a genuinely hands-on position where you’ll have significant ownership of the technology, building the backend infrastructure that powers an AI-native product, including APIs, agent orchestration, LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, and background processing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
- Python & Django / DRF
- LLMs, AI agents & RAG
- GCP & Terraform
- Celery / background processing
- SQL & data pipelines
- Backend architecture & distributed systems
You’ll take features from idea through to production, make architectural decisions, solve scaling and performance challenges and help shape how the engineering function develops as the company grows.
What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong commercial Python/Django experience and a track record of owning production systems.
We’re particularly interested in engineers who enjoy startup environments, want genuine technical ownership and are excited about building at the cutting edge of AI rather than simply integrating an LLM API.
