Senior Software Engineer — Security Systems

Mission Critical Applications Limited (MCA) is a UK SME specialising in high-integrity applications for safety- and security-critical systems, with expertise in embedded and real-time systems, formal methods, secure systems (including CHERI) and networks.

The Role

This is a great opportunity to join MCA on a new R&D project. You'll be a core member of a small engineering team building a network security guardian, taking it from early design through to a working prototype.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and implementing protocol-handling and session-management logic in Python and C/C++
  • Building and testing components on Unix/Linux-based CHERI systems
  • Integrating components into the full system and testing against third-party network equipment

Essential

  • Strong C/C++ development experience on Unix/Linux platforms
  • Strong Python development experience, especially protocol-level communications
  • Experience with network protocol implementation or low-level systems programming

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
