We’re excited to welcome a Senior Software Engineer to join our Manchester team to help drive forward our mission of building world-class software.


Life as a Senior Engineer

A Senior Engineer plays a fundamental role in shaping and delivering amazing software solutions to client challenges during discovery and delivery. You will partner with teams to understand the challenges they are facing as well as develop implementation and delivery plans that take advantage of emerging technologies at scale. During client delivery you will collaborate with Platform Engineers, Quality Engineers and AI Consultants to ensure that world class user experiences are understood, validation procedures are aligned and automation components are delivered.

Within our capability you'll be seeking to develop and grow your skills whilst advocating for progression of our capability on exciting frontiers such as Machine Learning and Generative AI.

Responsibilities

Specifically, you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain robust backend services and APIs using EITHER C#/.NET, Python or Java, applying clean code principles, design patterns, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Build modern, responsive and accessible frontend applications using EITHER React or TypeScript, focusing on exceptional user experiences and performance.
  • Build quality, reliable and performant applications, with a strong focus on maintainability, security and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain AI assisted development practices, utilising tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and other coding assistants to accelerate software delivery while maintaining code quality standards.
  • Implement containerisation using Docker and support scalable deployments using orchestration tools where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient, automated and reliable software delivery.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and engineering excellence while promoting well-being, diversity and collaboration across the organisation.

Requirements

What You'll Bring

  • Experience developing production applications using EITHER C#/.NET, Python or Java.
  • Commercial experience building modern web applications using EITHER React or TypeScript.
  • Experience designing and developing scalable APIs, microservices and distributed systems.
  • Integrated generative AI solutions into existing applications, leveraging APIs and prompt engineering techniques to deliver intelligent, context-aware functionality.
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure or AWS), including deployment and infrastructure concepts.
  • An understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerisation, observability and testing.
  • A collaborative mindset, passionate about sharing knowledge and driving engineering best practices.
