Your Role And Responsibilities

About the Team

The TEAR team's Billing POD owns the systems that turn Confluent Cloud usage into accurate, reliable billing — [metering and usage aggregation, rating/pricing, invoicing, and integrations with payment/ERP systems]. Billing is mission-critical: correctness, auditability, and scale are non-negotiable, and our work directly impacts revenue and customer trust. We move closely with Product, Finance, Design, and downstream platform teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a full-stack role, but it leans frontend-heavy — you'll spend the majority of your time building the billing, usage, and invoicing experiences our customers and internal teams rely on, while still understanding and contributing meaningfully to the backend services behind them. Our stack includes a React, Redux, and TypeScript frontend, with [backend: e.g., Go / Java] on Kubernetes, running on [AWS/GCP/Azure]. We use [Kafka/Flink, Postgres, Grafana, OpenSearch] to build, observe, and reconcile everything we ship.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and operate features across the Billing domain, with a primary focus on the frontend — rich, intuitive billing, usage, and invoicing experiences in React, Redux, and TypeScript.
  • Contribute to the backend services behind those experiences ([metering pipelines, rating/invoicing, usage aggregation]) — enough to own features end to end, not just the UI layer.
  • Independently deliver features end to end with high quality — design, implementation, production rollout, and on-call ownership.
  • Develop reliable, performant systems with a high bar for data correctness, idempotency, and reconciliation across high-volume usage data.
  • Contribute to one-pagers, design reviews, and KIPs for your product area, and provide thorough PR reviews.
  • Strengthen the POD's operational excellence — testing, monitoring, runbooks, and shared ownership of production systems.

Preferred Education

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience, with depth in frontend development and comfort working across the stack.
  • Strong proficiency building complex frontend applications with React, Redux, and TypeScript.
  • Working proficiency in [backend language — e.g., Go, or another statically typed language such as Java, C++, or Rust], with the ability to build and extend backend services.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native development and distributed systems.
  • A strong instinct for data integrity — experience with data pipelines, event streaming, or relational databases.
  • Good grasp of the design and architecture of your product area; able to work mostly self-sufficiently on well-scoped problems and help teammates with specific tasks.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and ownership skills.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • You have a frontend craft mindset — you care about UX quality, performance, and maintainable component architecture — while being happy to dive into the backend when a feature needs it.
  • You care deeply about correctness, reliability, and auditability — billing has no margin for silent errors.
  • You take pride in owning features end to end across the stack and collaborating across disciplines to deliver value.
  • [Bonus: exposure to billing, metering, payments, usage-based pricing, or financial systems.]
