SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 (dependent on experience)

Enfield, North London – Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days from home)

C++ / Visual Studio 2022 / Python / PowerShell

THE ROLE

An established engineering business is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Engineering Software Team on a permanent basis. You'll take ownership of software designs from initial specification all the way through to verified, production-ready code — bringing expert knowledge of software design, test and verification to new and existing products alike. It's a genuinely hands-on senior role with scope to shape innovative products and mentor the engineers around you.

Our client is a long-established, world-leading engineering business specialising in advanced radar, navigation and surveillance technology. Based in North London, they have a strong reputation for innovation and set the international standard in their field. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly technical engineering team working on cutting-edge, market-leading products.

THE SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER ROLE

  • Apply strong engineering practice to produce software for new, innovative and profitable products and solutions
  • Take responsibility for the specification, design, implementation, testing and maintenance of software supporting the company's products and services
  • Support and enhance existing software in line with commercial requirements
  • Take projects through the full software development lifecycle
  • Provide support, advice and mentoring to less experienced colleagues, acting as a role model for junior staff
  • Act as a technical point of liaison with customers, suppliers and collaborators on software matters
  • Undertake additional project tasks as required

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Excellent understanding of C++
  • Proven experience taking projects through the software development lifecycle
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Visual Studio (2022/2026)
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • A good degree in a relevant subject

Desirable:

  • Experience with GUI/UX or HCI
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, PowerShell)
