About the Role
We’re building the next generation of Wise Assets, empowering customers to grow their money within the Wise ecosystem.
Wise now offers:
- A current account backed by real assets, such as government-backed bonds or a global stock index fund.
- Daily returns across their entire balance.
- Instant access, with no penalties or lock-ins.
- Bankruptcy-protected custody (fully segregated holdings).
Our new vision? Going further: We want to enable customers to invest in individual stocks, build long-term, tax-efficient financial pots, and manage their entire financial lives directly through Wise.
You’ll define the entire product—from vision to execution:
- Design and shape the product experience and ceremonies customers interact with.
- Define the technical foundations—systems, architecture, and scalable infrastructure.
- Bring the vision to life—every detail matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Be our product architect: Guide the direction of this investments product from the ground up, ensuring it delivers a seamless and empowering experience for customers.
- Define technical foundations: Build the infrastructure and scalable backend from zero to hero, ensuring elegance, performance, and robust error-handling.
- Be the vision-setter and keeper—aligning product and engineering visions to create a product that's both simple for users and performant at scale.
- Collaborate across the Wise ecosystem: Work with product, design, compliance, production, and operations teams, making this product a seamless extension of Wise.
- Drive high-velocity developments with a strong products mindset—balancing idealism and practical engineering trade-offs.
- Be an active member of our engineering community, mentoring founders, fostering a culture of technical courage and learning, and improving technical documentation and engineering ceremonies.

Requirements

Strong focus on customers.
- You evaluate problems through customer pain points and use data to drive impactful decisions.
- You care deeply about crafting an intuitive, user-first product and diagnostics for failures before or after launch.

Professional-level English skills (an absolute requirement), for both written and verbal communication. Your ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and ideas to diverse audiences will be a significant factor.

Process engineering.
- You can break down complex challenges into incremental pieces that consistently add customer value.
- You coordinate projects across various technical teams, ensuring cohesive outcomes (and push to remove technical debt).

Production-level software development.
- Experience building web applications and distributed systems with reasoning about system interactions at scale.
- Bonus points for backtesting the system designs you’ve built.
- Bonus points for experience with large-scale distributed systems (trade routing, event-driven architectures).

Architectural and design patterns.
- Experience designing software solutions with best practices in mind. Proficiency in writing clean, well-documented, and highly tested code.
