I'm working with an exciting GreenTech scale-up that's hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build the technology behind one of the world's most important carbon-removal challenges. Recently recognised as one of the global winners of the $100M XPRIZE, the company is now scaling the software platform that supports carbon removal globally.
This Senior Software Engineer role offers the chance to build software with genuine real-world impact. You'll work across scientific data, operational workflows, infrastructure and customer-facing products, helping turn complex real-world processes into reliable, scalable technology.
The Senior Software Engineer Opportunity
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll join a small, high-calibre team with meaningful ownership from day one. This isn't a role where you'll simply pick up tickets. You'll help shape product direction, influence architecture, improve engineering practices and own software throughout the full development lifecycle.
The environment is fast-moving and collaborative. The team wants a Senior Software Engineer who is flexible across technologies, comfortable operating through ambiguity and more interested in solving the right problem than defending a particular language or framework.

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You'll Be Doing
- β Own product features end-to-end, from discovery and technical design through to deployment and production support.
- β Build software that supports complex scientific processes, operational workflows and strict data-integrity requirements.
- β Work closely with Product, Science, Operations and external partners to turn complex requirements into usable software.
- β Contribute to architecture, cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and engineering standards.
- β Help improve testing, reliability, maintainability and repeatable software delivery.
- β Shape how AI is adopted across engineering, improving the software development lifecycle and potentially wider company workflows.
What They're Looking for in a Senior Software Engineer

- β Strong architectural judgement and the ability to balance speed, simplicity and long-term scalability.
- β Comfort working across the stack and choosing the right technology for the problem.
- β Experience building data-intensive applications with complex business rules, invariants or data-integrity requirements.
- β A collaborative, low-ego approach with strong communication skills and positive energy.
- β Startup or scale-up experience, or evidence that you thrive in environments with ambiguity, ownership and changing priorities.
- β Practical experience helping engineering teams adopt AI beyond basic coding assistants.
