About Street Group
Street Group is one of the fastest-growing PropTech companies in the UK. We want to be the leading creator of delightful experiences for everybody involved in buying, selling, renting and letting property, regardless of their involvement, to improve the industry for everybody by elevating UK Estate Agencies through world-class technology.
Our products, Street.co.uk and Spectre form a powerful duo, working harmoniously together to transform an agent’s job. From securing more leads and winning new instructions to streamlining business operations and growing market share, our products are supercharging 1,000s of agencies across the UK.
How we work in 2026
Engineering at Street Group has changed. Most of us don't write code by hand day-to-day anymore - agents do; we direct. The bar has moved with it; planning and judgement matter more than typing speed: engineers run several workstreams in parallel, directing agent sessions while their own attention goes on design calls and the more complex problems. Real product and user understanding, once a "nice to have," is now baseline.
Being genuinely tuned into AI tooling is core to the role here, not a side skill - and if you'd rather work the “old” way, that's fair - but we’re probably not the place for you.
You'll own features from start to finish: scoping the problem, directing the build through to deployment, and iterating based on what you learn. You'll also contribute to discovery and ideation, and work alongside designers and engineers to identify, prioritise, and solve problems efficiently. If you love autonomy, are naturally curious, and want to have a genuine impact within a growing company, we think you'd fit right in!
What you’ll be doing
- Owning your area of the codebase and its direction: scoping ambiguous problems end-to-end and building with distributed systems and scale in mind.
- Directing parallel agent sessions to deliver work, while your own attention goes on the design decisions, reviews and complex problems where your judgement is required.
- Playing an active role in the department's big technical moves: security work, architectural changes, and platform upgrades.
- Building and improving the team's AI infrastructure beyond your own work - shared plugin skills and the review and CI loops the whole team relies on.
- Bringing product thinking into everything you build: understanding the user and commercial problem behind the brief, challenging requirements that don't serve the outcome, and being a regular technical voice in discovery alongside product and design.
- Mentoring less experienced engineers and holding the team's output to a high standard by showing others how to reach it.
- Work closely with technical leaders and Product Designers to offer technical input; paying special attention to scale, maintainability and alignment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A bit about you
- You have commercial experience with PHP and Laravel (or a similar MVC framework) - we're less fussed about deep Laravel internals than about solid MVC fundamentals and framework concepts.
- You have experience working with Vue 3, React, Angular, or similar modern JS framework.
- You have production experience with AWS. ECS, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge and RDS are advantageous.
- You work AI-natively as a default, using tools like Claude Code, plugins and skills fluently.
- You design solutions built for scale with little to no support - you know intuitively where performance and load will bite, and just as importantly, when early optimisation isn't worth it.
- You understand what you're building and why - product thinking is part of the job for you.
- You're a great communicator with strong attention to detail, and you're comfortable influencing beyond your own team.

A note on using AI in your job application
As a fast-moving and rapidly evolving tech company, we embrace the advantages of AI and encourage its use throughout our application process. However, our goal is to get to know and hire the authentic you - your skills, experience, and values. We don’t want to hire an AI-generated version of you. We consider AI to be a valuable tool, not something that should overshadow you as an individual.
How we use AI in the hiring process
Candidate experience is really important to us, and our Talent team use AI notetakers during interviews so they can focus purely on their conversation with you. All hiring decisions are made by humans - not AI. Let us know if you have any questions!
