About The Team
Airwallex is building a state-of-the-art lending platform that empowers enterprise clients to offer innovative credit products to their customers, all through Airwallex’s technology and infrastructure. Our Singapore-based Lending Engineering team owns the design, delivery, and scaling of our credit product portfolio for global enterprise clients. As part of this team, you’ll directly influence the architecture, reliability, and ongoing evolution of our next-generation embedded lending platform.

What You’ll Do
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in architecting, designing, and implementing large-scale, secure, and scalable systems for our lending platform. Your work will enable fast, seamless, and compliant credit experiences for our enterprise clients and their users while laying the technical foundation for future expansion into new financing products.
This role is based in Singapore.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust services powering lending, with a key focus on credit products.
- Build and maintain secure, scalable, and well-documented APIs that enable clients to seamlessly embed and consume our credit products within their own offerings.
- Lead design reviews, advice on systems architecture, and mentor a team of engineers to uphold high standards of code quality and technical excellence.
- Champion resilient, distributed systems design and best practices to ensure platform reliability and performance at global enterprise scale.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful and effective lending solutions.
- Promote robust automated testing, code review, and monitoring practices to ensure the stability, scalability, and security of our platform.
- Stay on top of industry trends and proactively drive improvements to platform architecture, engineering practices, and delivery efficiency.
Who You Are
We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with strong exposure to modern engineering practices, continuous integration, and quality engineering.
- At least 2 years in a technical leadership role, mentoring engineers and leading the definition and execution of engineering strategy.
- Strong computer science foundation and object-oriented programming skills, with proven experience building backend systems. While we do not mind what language you have most recently been using, we are primarily using Java or Kotlin and the Spring / Spring Boot framework.
- Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs, with familiarity in modern API design principles and tools.
- Experience with domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures in production environments.
- Proven track record designing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency, highly available distributed systems at scale.
- Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.) with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.
