About The Job You're Considering
You will build and run enterprise-scale custom software on Azure for clients in regulated and high-governance sectors. Hands-on .NET engineering, distributed systems, Kubernetes and the reliability work that keeps them healthy in production, in teams that own what they ship.
We work across Retail, Utilities, Manufacturing, Transport, Health and the Public Sector, so you will pick up new domains quickly and often.
Examples of what you will actually be building
- Application modernisation/re-platforming a utilities client's billing integration layer from a monolith onto event-driven .NET microservices on AKS, with no customer-facing downtime during cutover.
- Designing and running the API platform behind a public sector service handling several million transactions a month, including the service-level objectives, observability and incident process that go with it.
- Building the internal developer platform and deployment pipelines a retail client's own engineering teams use day to day, so they can release safely without a hand-off to us.
Your Role
Delivery and technical leadership
- Act as an engineer and subject matter expert on client delivery engagements, owning specification, development, testing and implementation of complex cloud native applications on Azure.
- Lead and mentor development teams and raise the engineering standard around you.
- Shape delivery practice across projects: branching strategy, testing approach, CI/CD and release pipelines.
- Engage credibly with both technical and business stakeholders on the client side.
Engineering
- Design and document Azure cloud native solutions, incorporating recommended security practices, and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Build resilient, scalable APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and contribute to integration-led transformations and platforms.
- Containerise workloads with Docker and orchestrate with Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Define and automate infrastructure as code using Bicep or Terraform, and build out CI/CD with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Support services before they go live through design consulting, platform and framework development, automated testing, release pipelines, capacity planning and launch reviews.
- Keep services healthy once live: availability, latency, errors, saturation and traffic, instrumented with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, OpenTelemetry and Log Analytics.
- Apply secure cloud native design principles: identity-first, encryption, least privilege and zero trust.
- Scale systems sustainably through automation, and reduce toil rather than absorbing it.

Your Skills And Experience
These six things are the bar. If you can evidence them, we want to talk to you.
- Strong production.NET engineering (C#,.NET 8 or later), with a working command of SOLID, software design patterns and test-driven development.
- End-to-end delivery of Azure PaaS solutions that went live and that you then supported.
- Modernisation of legacy applications to cloud native Azure using AI assisted tooling, e.g. GitHub Copilot.
- Containerisation and orchestration in production with Docker and Kubernetes, ideally AKS.
- CI/CD and infrastructure as code in anger: Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and Bicep or Terraform.
- Experience delivering in collaborative agile teams in a commercial, client-facing environment.
What we will help you build
We use all of the following. You are not expected to arrive with them, and where you do not have them we will help you develop them.
- Domain Driven Design, microservice architecture, CQRS and event sourcing.
- Site reliability practice: service-level objectives, error budgets, distributed tracing and incident response.
- Identity and access with Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Entra External ID (the successor to Azure AD B2C).
- Security standards including OWASP and PCI DSS.
- Azure AI Services where a product genuinely needs them. Deep agentic AI work sits with our AI Engineering team, and there are routes across if that is where you want to go.
- Data platform and SQL performance work at scale.
