Senior Software Engineer (Node & React, Headless API)
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Node & React, Headless API) based in United Kingdom.
This is a senior engineering opportunity for an experienced individual contributor who wants to have substantial ownership over a stable, developer-first SaaS platform.
- You will work hands-on across backend and frontend technologies while shaping APIs, architecture, integrations, and core product capabilities.
- The role combines daily coding with technical leadership, pragmatic architectural decisions, and close collaboration with business and product stakeholders.
- You will help expand a headless API platform that enables developers to integrate social media capabilities across multiple networks.
- Your early impact will include launching a new advertising integration, connecting the platform with emerging AI development tools, and strengthening the core platform.
- You will join a small, experienced, remote-first engineering team where autonomy, speed, quality, and reliability are highly valued.
This is an ideal role for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, influencing architecture, and delivering meaningful production-ready features.
Accountabilities
- Write production-quality code daily, leading by example and maintaining high standards across development practices.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant systems and APIs.
- Own critical areas of the technical landscape and contribute to the continued evolution of the platform architecture.
- Lead the development and launch of new product capabilities, including major third-party integrations.
- Drive the implementation of an Instagram Ads integration as part of the core product.
- Explore and integrate emerging AI development and coding platforms to expand product capabilities.
- Continuously improve the core platform while protecting its high availability, stability, and developer-first experience.
- Collaborate closely with business leadership and the CEO to translate product strategy into practical technical execution.
- Make pragmatic, risk-aware engineering decisions that balance innovation, delivery speed, maintainability, and uptime.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues in collaboration with the wider engineering team.
- Contribute to software quality practices, including testing, CI/CD, documentation, and reliable release processes.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural input within a small, senior engineering environment.

Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated impact in senior-level roles.
- Strong expertise in software design and architecture, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and scalable application development.
- Hands-on experience with Node.js, React, Firebase, and API development.
- Strong understanding of headless, API-driven architectures and production-grade software systems.
- Experience building scalable and fault-tolerant applications with a strong focus on reliability and performance.
- Solid knowledge of software quality practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, documentation, and maintainable development processes.
- Interest in emerging AI development platforms and coding tools, with enthusiasm for exploring how they can enhance software products and engineering workflows.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a pragmatic approach to engineering, with the judgment to balance speed, quality, technical debt, and business priorities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in a distributed and asynchronous working environment.
- Comfortable working independently, taking ownership of complex technical challenges, and making decisions without excessive bureaucracy or supervision.
- A strong product mindset and the ability to translate business objectives into robust technical solutions.
